We understand that for many people a neuropsychological assessment may seem daunting and unknown. For many, this may be the first time navigating the assessment space or engaging with a psychological health care professional. It can feel overwhelming especially when the process is unknown and new.
At Wild Flower neuropsychology we’re committed to providing a slower gentler approach that ensures all clients and children receive a positive and genuine experience leaving you with a deeper understanding and sense of empowerment. We achieve this by …
You won’t feel rushed. We spend time interviewing individuals, parents or carers, along with your child, so we can truly understand concerns and difficulties. We take a detailed developmental history including pregnancy and birth, through to how you or your child are currently doing right now – in the learning or work environment, at home, in relationships and with peers. We believe in a collaborative approach, and will engage with educators, other health professionals or people within the care team.
The assessment for you or your child will utilise a comprehensive and tailored set of standardised neuropsychological tests. This might include the WAIS-IV, WISC-V or WIAT-III. For more information on the test we use, please see FAQs. We assess many different thinking skills, including general intellectual ability (IQ) attention, working memory, processing speed or academic skills, as well as their emotional wellbeing, and social communication skills. The specific assessment and what we do depends on the family and referrer’s concerns.
Clients, parents and educators also complete a range of questionnaires. Those results, together with information from home, work or school, help us form a diagnosis (where appropriate) and provides a deep and informed understanding.
We understand that each child and person has different needs, goals and preference for support and intervention. The information and knowledge gained through neuropsychological assessment is used to provide a unique set of recommendations to help address areas of difficulty and allow the person to thrive. To support access to government health care services (such as the NDIS), Wild Flower Neuropsychology offers specialised reports that can be readily used for new applications or review.
